COVID-19 Rental Assistance

If you are a renter in Delaware who is facing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic, you may qualify for rental assistance from DSHA’s Delaware Housing Assistance Program (DEHAP).

The program provides emergency housing assistance to renters affected by shutdowns, closures, layoffs, reduced work hours, unpaid leave or financial hardship related to the COVID-19 health crisis.

In March 2021, a third version of the program is being relaunched with new federal funding. The new version of the program can assist with rental arrears from April 2020 and on and up to three months of prospective (forward) rent up to a total maximum of 18 months and $1,500/month. Past due and current utilities can be covered up to a maximum of 18 months and $500/month.

Renters and landlords are encouraged to read the new program requirements and guidelines on this website before applying as changes have been made to eligible households and expenses.

Visit our eligibility page to see if you qualify for the program.
